Customs is a key mechanism<\/strong> in the logistics and transport sector through which all exports and imports must pass, in order to keep track<\/strong> of the goods entering and leaving a given country. Due to warnings from some professionals in the sector about the lack of efficiency of customs services, the Customs and Excise Department of the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT)<\/a> has implemented new procedures, aligned with European customs regulations, to help improve the transit of goods in foreign trade operations. These measures will come into force in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New measures adopted by the AEAT<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

These are the main customs milestones that will stand out this new year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Control measures for the import of electrical and electronic equipment, batteries and accumulators by the Official Service for Inspection, Surveillance and Regulation of Exports SOIVRE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Tax on non-reusable plastic packaging. A tax of 0.45 euros per kilogram on non-reusable plastic packaging<\/a>,<\/a> in order to reduce its impact on the environment<\/strong> and encourage its reuse<\/strong> and recycling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms (CBAM). The CBAM<\/a> targets imports of products from carbon-intensive industries to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong> and will start to operate from October 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– New customs declaration of information. A new customs declaration<\/a> for imports will come into force during 2023, similar to the one for exports in force since 18 October 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Reform of the Customs Union. A reform of customs legislation<\/a> that calls for urgent structural change<\/strong> in customs. A paradigm shift to ensure that EU customs contribute to Europe’s security<\/strong> and defence<\/strong> and act as a Union-wide system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
