One of the great challenges facing Spanish rail transport<\/a> is the creation of an efficient intermodal network <\/strong>linking strategic points in the country and, at the same time, facilitating connections with Europe<\/strong>. In order to achieve this objective, it is proposed to modify the current connectivity<\/strong>, creating synergies to reduce costs during journeys, while taking advantage of transport systems and reducing freight congestion. In this way, it will be possible to reduce the pollution caused by the entire logistics process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this sense, Spain, due to its geographical location on the global map and its proximity to the African continent, is considered a key strategic point <\/strong>for initiating a remodelling process. Recent studies on the railway sector <\/a>reveal that our country is at the bottom of the list in the integration of different modes of freight transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For these reasons and to alleviate the lack of development, the Spanish government, the European Union and private companies have realised the need to support this means of transport<\/strong>. For this reason, they are investigating intermodality<\/strong> in order to achieve its effective implementation. The ultimate goal is to create a network that optimises resources and is more environmentally sustainable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
