A year marked by the strong<strong> tariff policy<\/strong> imposed by the <strong>United States<\/strong> and a significant increase in volatility. <\/p>\n\n<p>Specifically, this year has been conditioned by factors such as<strong> tariff changes<\/strong> driven by the <strong>US administration<\/strong>; the increase in operating costs in <strong>transportation<\/strong>, <strong>fuel <\/strong>and<strong> port services<\/strong>; the reconfiguration of routes and markets due to<strong> geopolitical tensions <\/strong>; and greater demands from customers and regulatory bodies in relevant aspects such as sustainability and efficiency. A trend that will continue to define <strong>international trade<\/strong> at least during the first months of <strong>2026<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/operinter.com\/en\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/operinter.com\/en\/\">Operinter <\/a><\/strong>as an international logistics operator present on five continents, has sought to ensure agile and reliable solutions that allow its customers to maintain continuity and efficiency of operations in a constantly changing <strong>global market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>All this has forced the <strong>sector <\/strong>to operate with unprecedented agility, replanning scenarios and adjusting strategies week by week, since the <strong>United States<\/strong> has applied a universal minimum <strong>tariff<\/strong> of <strong>10%<\/strong> since last April. In addition to additional surcharges for blocks such as the <strong>European Union<\/strong>, which at certain times of the year have reached an effective rate of <strong>28%<\/strong>, when at the beginning of the year it was <strong>2.4%<\/strong>, according to a study by<strong> Yale University in the United States.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>Although <strong>tariff tension<\/strong> has eased recently and many sectors now operate under a <strong>15%<\/strong> benchmark tariff, rates remain well above the usual levels. Overall, the average rate of <strong>14.4%<\/strong> recorded after recent adjustments remains the highest since the late 1930s, according to this report. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Competitiveness and supply chains<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The dynamism and unpredictability of this <strong>tariff policy<\/strong> have led to sharp movements in <strong>international competitiveness<\/strong>. Countries that have reached agreements to lower their tariffs have strengthened their export position, while others continue to face higher barriers, affecting their ability to operate in the <strong>U.S. market.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>For<strong> Europe,<\/strong> including the <strong>Spanish export network <\/strong>with a strong presence in sectors such as <strong>food<\/strong>, <strong>automotive<\/strong>, <strong>machinery <\/strong>and <strong>consumer goods<\/strong>, the <strong>15%<\/strong> tariff introduced by the US administration represents a substantial increase compared to the beginning of the year. The need to recalculate costs, redesign routes and analyze alternatives of origin has become a constant practice in order to mitigate these <strong>protectionist measures<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Impact on businesses and consumers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Small and medium-sized companies &#8211; in the <strong>U.S.<\/strong> and <g id=\"gid_1\">globally &#8211;<\/g>are reflecting a considerable increase in import costs, which translates into higher prices for all types of products. In this regard, <strong>volatility <\/strong>continues to be a dominant factor. <strong>Logistics chains <\/strong>are seeing continuous adjustments in volumes, trade flows and demand for customs services.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>A global challenge that requires anticipation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Tariff uncertainty<\/strong> will continue to mark <strong>international trade<\/strong> in the coming months.
